About Jimmy Butler
Jimmy Butler is a 26 year-old American basketball star who plays the NBA team, the Chicago Bulls. Butler endured a difficult childhood, from being abandoned by his father as a baby and being kicked out of his home as a 13 year old. He went around staying with friends and anyone who would give him a place to stay for a while. As a senior in Huston’s Tomball High School, he was befriended by a fellow basketball team mate. The friend’s family were found of Butler and soon invited him to live with them as family. During his senior year of 2006-2007, he averaged nearly 20 points a game and 9 rebounds. He was the team captain and was voted by his peers as their most valuable player.
When Butler graduated from high school, he moved to Tyler, Texas and attended Tyler Junior College. Because of his great performances during his freshman year at Tyler, Division 1 executives began to notice him and he was listed as No. 127 in the 2008 junior college prospect list. With this recognition, Butler was awarded a scholarship to play for Marquette University. During his years at Marquette, he received honorable mentions from the All-Big East Honorable Mentions for two straight years. He and his team played in Marquette’s fifth consecutive NCAA tournament. During the 2011 NBA draft, Butler ranked No. 30 in the pick by the Chicago Bulls, as signed his contract in December of 2011.
Even though there was a shorter season due to a lockout, Butler still played in 42 games with decent averages. He did not get to play a lot during the first part of 2012-13; however, he was a starter by the end of the season and averaged over 40 minutes in each game. The next two years, he made impressive scores and won the NBA Award for Most Improved Player. In the summer of 2015, he resigned with the Bulls for a contract of over $90 million. He also endorses footwear by Air Jordan.
